This was our Rainforest Collage that our class made for Rainforest Week! We showed the children how to make trees from cardboard and tissue paper and they glued them on themselves. They also used bark, moss and other natural materials that we collected on a walk in the forest. They then chose a photo of an animal and drew a little picture of it to put into the rainforest.
Chinese New Year!!! Our class was in charge of this festival assembly. The whole school actually worked on decorating the skirt of the big dragon, gluing tissue paper circles to it. Our class worked hard at cutting out the paper scales and painting other various parts. Then at the assembly each class got to take a turn dancing under the huge dragon costume while 3 students worked the smaller dragon that was attached to the top of 3 poles.
For our morning hand writing activity we many times just put out a big piece of paper out on the floor and let them practice writing numbers and letters in paint or crayons. They love it and it gives them a wider range of movement. Plus you end up with a pretty piece of work to decorate your classroom with! We have even used these murals to wall paper the students' play area with!
I bought everyone a cheep foam plane on Ebay and everyone had so much fun assembling and testing them out!
For our Senses topic we make books to show how we use our senses.
So fun to watch our seedlings grow!
Everyone loves to paint on murals! The teachers drew the school and after it was finished we glued our pictures in the windows!
Before Summer break we plant our Bottle Tower Garden plants outside. Everyone is excited when they come back from vacation to see how much everything grew!
For Vehicles Week we just set out recycled materials and let everyone build cars, boats and planes. Was fun testing them out and seeing if their designs work or not.
To decorate our classroom everyone pitched in and made flowers from circles of colored tissue paper. We stapled together 5-6 different colors that each child chose and then crunched them up one layer at a time starting from the center.
For Diwali we made sun catchers out of cds and plastic paint!
Rainforest room! For Rainforest week we transformed the small entry hall into our cloakroom into a fantastic mini rainforest! Our class again worked on all the parts and we even had a little sensory pond, rainforest sound track playing, and made this cool gorilla cut out take pictures with! Was a big hit!
Easter tree! We combined a science project with art in this project. We picked the branches about 3 weeks before Easter and did weekly observations on them, writing and drawing what happened to the branches. Then I bought plastic eggs for everyone to decorate and presto! An Easter tree!!!
Boats out of recycled materials! For our unit on land, water, and air vehicles we broke our class into pairs to build vehicles out of recycled materials. It was a good lesson in cooperation and compromise for them. We even found a little pool to try out the boats after they were made! Most of them even floated!
