Kuala Lumpur - Petaling Street Chinatown
Chinatown is not called Chinatown by the Malays, who call it Jalan Petaling (a type of tree) or Chinese, who call it Chee Chong Kai. If 'chee' is in 'muah chee' (mochi) then it is Flour Factory Street. It is near where the first Chinese mining settlement was, which was closer to the river bak nearby where the Indian Sri Mahamariamma Temple is now in Jalan Tun H.S. Lee. It is the tourists that make or call it Chinatown. In fact in colonial times aside Kampung Baru the whole of KL was Chinatown!
