These small ceramic floral pin rests are a new addition to Cohana for Spring Summer 2022. It's a ceramic needle rest, with needle polisher to sharpen your needles. Made by Mr. Tile, Minamiawaji City. These are a reference to the Awaji Kawara ceramic tile making method. The practice dates back to 1610, when the first roof tiles were made for castles. Different techniques resulted in different colours and finishes. These use the method applied for ceramic roof tiles which are glazed and fired.
There are four new colourways, each pack has three handmade Mizhuhiki headed pins. The marking pins make a little souvenir of Japan - the history and the craftsmanship. MIZUHIKI is a decorative paper cord created by twisting washi paper and then hardening it with a glue coating. For formal gifts,it's an essential element. The gift-sender can express their sentiments by their choice of colour, number of cords and tying method depending on the occasion.

The heads of these pins are Mizuhiki knots with the Awaji ball shape. Made by Kinoshita Mizuhiki from Nagano prefecture, by hand by traditional methods of making decorative knots from paper. Launching in time for the Northern Spring are three new seasonal colours - Teal, Rose and Daffodil - of Cohana's Small Scissors with Lacquer Handles They are the SS 2022 Limited Edition Collection created from the signature Cohana colour palette of florals. Made by the same makers of the every popular scissor - Hasegawa cutlery and Ebara Lacquer makers. These little scissors are a real favourite with our subscribers. They are made by Hasegawa cutlery, the makers of the baby mini scissors. The lacquer coating of the handles is made by Ehara Lacquer Works of Nagoya, who use the technique originating to make traditional Buddhist lacquerware. The red handles are finished with the Shunuri technique, creating the vibrant vermillion red, resulting in s smooth-surface fingers slips into easily. The oxblood colour is called Temunuri.

It's Sakura season in Japan and this year it peaked at the earliest time ever. This year, like last, there will be very few visitors witnessing the event outside Japan. To mark the occasion, Cohana has created their Sakura 2021 Limited Edition range. This is some of the collection which has a theme of thread, featuring Temaricious dyed thread and Mitzuhiki knots. The collection is proving very popular with Cohana fans as the memento for the season most of us will not see first hand :(
