Melbourne's first baby Mary Gilbert, the first migrant woman settler, gave birth to a son, the first white child born in Melbourne on 29 December 1835. There is a statue of her, shown, in the Fitzroy Gardens' conservatory. And, yes, she did bring the first cat to Melbourne.

We still love you. Vault, dubbed the "Yellow Peril", at Southbank, with the Eureka Tower stretching to touch the sun. Vault originally sat in the City Square, then was moved to Batman Park, next to Enterprize Park, where Melbourne was founded. You were once the cause of so much fuss, remember?
