Floral Anatolian Rugs
Chorzone Soft Pile - Kars (Roman Armenia)
Kars rugs often feature geometric medallions, some of which are similar to Caucasian designs. Prayer kilims were also woven, although less so in recent years, and generally of a larger size than most. However, with this Kars rug different than the usual, flower design is centered like a medallion in a dark and rich palette of browns, and yellow in a harmony.
Caesarea Floral Rug
Kayseri is a central Anatolian town famous for its knotted rugs. Besides the city itself, carpets woven in surrounding district capitals such as Bünyan, Pınarbaşı, and Tomarza are also considered Kayseri carpets. A great variety of carpets, woven of various materials, are produced on the looms found throughout this region. With this rug, we see one of the best examples of the use of the floral design in knotting.
