In tasmania in Port Arthur.

It was a bit blustery at Port Arthur yesterday - the power was out much of the day as a result. But our team kept the site open for visitors despite the weather.

The cosy interior of the Superintendent's House, Port Arthur, TAS. The Superintendent was a prominent figure in 19th-century Tasmanian society and was expected to host parties and entertain VIP guests frequently - out of his own salary, of course, which kept most superintendents in a state of genteel poverty most of the time. At least one superintendent went on to become a Premier of Tasmania back in the 1850s or 1860s as I recall. 23 January 2011.
