In a very limited time, with nearly no preparations allowed, students need to show what they learned during our course but apply it in a completely different way. So, it asks for a lot of good planning, exercise, time, and stress management. Here is an example of a bouquet made with a steel grass structure and delicate white flowers. Bridy Lady and Oasis Floral Adhesive make the basis of the work. @oasis.floralproducts.benelux Lady, Education, Design, Floral, European, Steel, Oasis, Management, Oasis Floral Adhesive

Spring is here! Blossoms in homemade white plaster containers. To be original, we teach our EFDE students to create their own containers using materials from other industries. Plaster bandages are used in hospitals, but with some creativity we can make some unique containers for our floral compositions. Unique, White, Create, Floral Design, Creative, Homemade, Spring

Building great flower projects is one of the biggest dreams of every EFDE student! As teachers, our goal is to coach the student to the level where this can be achieved. There are many technical and organisational problems to be solved, but what most people forget is that stress and people management are even more important to achieve a perfect result. Architectural floristry is quite challenging, but much appreciated by EFDE students. Here too, "Less is more" - peeled willow, rose petals, and Zantedeschia (calla lilies) get the job done! The fact that the composition is tilted creates more tension, but make sure it is not seen as a mistake! Composition, Rose, Calla, Petals, Rose Petals

Making bouquets is one of the main tasks of any professional florist! That is why in our EFDE we take a lot of time to introduce different types of bouquets. In the following posts, we will present some of the work that the students have made in a very limited time, so most of them can be considered commercial! This one is made in pastel tints on a frame of ratan. Commercial, Pastel, Bouquets, Frame, Lot, Bouquet

Equisetum or Snake Grass is a wonderful material to build vegetative structures with, and you don't even need metal wire inside to keep everything under control. Just some green Oasis paper wire will hold everything in place. In our EFDE we love to make architectural constructions to support our flowers. @oasis.floralproducts.benelux Nice, Flowers, Floral Education, Orchids, Floral Art, Flower Power

We recently received a nice article in the spring issue of Floral Arranger magazine in the UK. It is nice to see that our way of arranging is appreciated even in the cradle of traditional floristry! We hope it will encourage more people to look at floristry in a more abstract way! Thank you, Chloë for the nice article! @nafas_flowerarrangers Traditional, Abstract

As temperatures rise, spring is in the air. The birds are singing again and the buds on branches and trees are bursting open. We teach our EFDE students to work with seasonal flowers and materials to reduce our carbon footprint. Nests are very popular in spring and leave a lot of room for creativity, whether we approach them figuratively or abstractly! Enjoy! Popular, Branch, Branches

Another plant material that gets my full attention is equisetum or snake grass. Again, the minimalist approach of Equisetum with white Agapanthus allows you to create very strong compositions with limited use of material. The EFDE students have discovered several ways of working with this grass, each time with surprising results. @oasis.floralproducts.benelux Inspiration, Instagram

If you want to see this as a Valentine's heart, that is fine, but it was originally made as a car decoration for a wedding. Students in our EFDE course learn how to make their own bases to create original car decorations. And the most important thing about this subject is that you can't scratch the car and you have to make sure that the construction is properly fixed to the bonnet! It may seem simple, but it requires a lot of technical skill to get it right. @oasis.floralproducts.benelux Valentine's Day, Decorations, Heart, Decoration, Wedding, Simple, Car

For some of us, Valentine's Day is too commercial and the heart shape is certainly considered tacky. But you can make it more abstract! This is one of the main things we want to teach our students at EFDE. Abstract work triggers our brains, while figurative compositions are instantly recognizable. Art

The winter season is so great because there are so many materials in nature to build structures with. Our EFDE students love working with cornus because it dries perfectly and is so flexible. It is fantastic to experience the different varieties of cornus. In this work you can see the black and red. The work has a lot of movement as the black part is separated from the red by more than 40 cm in some places. Arrangement, Tall Vases, Modern Flower, Modern Floral, Floral Art Arrangements, Deco

Students of the EFDE can be extremely creative. The simpler the materials used, the stronger the concept will be. Here cardboard and rubber bands lead to an exceptional design with a lot of visual impact. The work is full of tension, and movement, and above all has an extraordinary texture. The orange flowers of the Kalanchoe define the focal point which is positioned according to the rules we teach them! This work comes very close to perfection! Bravo!!! In our EFDE modules, we teach our students to be original with simple materials and if possible create their own containers. This is the best way to create unique arrangements. In this case, the use of corrugated cardboard and some imagination can create special compositions. Certainly when you make your shape floating on high perspex tubes. Only make sure to use wide water tubes or water containers as else the flowers need to be watered every couple of hours! Plants, Garden

So, at the end of the year, big hotel decorations become popular again. This topic is extremely popular amongst EFDE students. Here is a decoration of the lobby of the 5* Kande Hotel in Guangzhou, China. Again "Less is more"! Bamboo and Spathiphyllum. Green and white are always popular colors for New Year decorations. Valentine's Day is coming soon! Heart structures will be very popular again! They can be small and commercial or a little bigger and more artistic. In the marketing part of our EFDE course we teach our students to prepare structures for the holidays well in advance so that we can provide high-quality floristry on these very busy days. It is just a matter of good time management and planning. #valentine Land Art

The motto of our EFDE training: Less is more. Don't use lavish, expensive flowers and containers, but be creative. As our German colleagues often say: "In der Beschränkung zeigt sich erst der Meister!!" Translated, this means that you can really show your craftsmanship and skill when you are limited in the materials you can use. The tulips used here are on the bulb. https://floristic.com Garden Art Diy, Floral Art Design

Also, the typical Christmas decoration can be very beautiful. We always teach our students of the EFDE never to neglect the traditional customers as switching from traditional (figurative) to abstract in the blink of an eye, can chase away all your current customers before the new ones arrived! How to make your Christmas compositions more original? This is a very difficult task we give our students in the EFDE. Not one single festival is more traditional than Xmas so, in order to stay recognizable ( a Law of design) we need to adapt our designs to certain traditional standards! Such an interesting process!! In this composition, you can see how a simple spiralwise bent steel rod can give our Xmas tree a different interpretation and feel. https://floristic.com

Why are so few florists creative with plants, although each year plants realize a bigger turnover in the flower industry? Why is it harder to be creative with plants than with flowers? I am quite sure it is just a mindset we need to change! Plants have a lot of advantages compared with flowers. Certainly, durability needs to be taken into consideration. Plants have a much longer living cycle than flowers. Here is an example with very common and cheap material but a lot of visual impact. Hanging, Hanging Decor, Abstract Floral

Even in times with extremely expensive flowers, like Xmas, we can still create wonderful abstract compositions. Even with 1 flower. One rose stands central in this work and is wrapped in a frame of red Cornus and Salix. Such work asks for the necessary accessories like pearls, and decorative aluminum wire. As a clever student in the EFDE, he/she knows that if you keep the base a bit open, you can easily replace the rose with a new one. https://floristic.com Salix, One Rose
