Govt Chalet, Mt. Buffalo, Victoria. The donkeys at Buffalo were cared for Mick Dougherty the famous coach driver, who in 1919 was forced to retire from driving coaches to Omeo and to Buffalo, for Crawford & Co, due to an accident when he broke his ankle (no good for pushing on the brakes). Mick was one of the oldest and longest serving coach drivers. Mick who loved the horses he had control over, commented after working with donkeys he preferred them to horses.
