I used to use a whisper phone! DIY Whisper Phones~ Children use these to hear themselves as they quietly read aloud. This post has great directions and with pictures that explain how to make them with inexpensive materials.

Boggle- This is by far the most popular in my room. I got this amazing activity from Create-Teach-Share and my kids go bananas for it. I just change the letters weekly to reflect our spelling pattern focus and they go on a word making frenzy
This would be a great game to play with kids to practice leadership skills. You could have the students take turns being the one in charge and giving the group directions. Leadership is another vital social century skill.
Self-assessment strategy: students use cards to indicate how they are progressing through independent practice. This allows the teacher to intervene when necessary and gauge students' understanding of concepts.
All about me bag - Each child fills the bag with 4 things about them and brings it into school. They can decorate the bag too. I did this with my own items as a first day of school ice breaker. Maybe get large paper sacks from the grocery

This could be adapted to suit my class! (via Team V’s First Grade Fun: “I’m Done” Cups) Students pick a stick from the “I’m Done” cup and work on an activity when they are finished with their work. Teachers can range the activities depending on the grade.
