Wattle Park was set up by the Hawthorn Tramways Trust in 1916, as those who have caught our Fish Out Of Water may recall. It became a popular destination for a day trip, hence the olde worlde Chalet and bandstand. The chalet was built in 1928. Building materials were recycled from the Yarra Bend Lunatic Asylum
