Gilt Mirror and Pink Fan Wallpaper of the Powder Room - Gilt Mirror and Deluxe Design of Small Powder Room

Florence Broadhurst has lead many different lives. When she lived in London she became a French Couturier named Madame Pellier and once she moved back to Australia she reinvented herself again as an English aristocrat, completely denying her true identity, much to the dismay of her family. I love how feminine this pink version of her Japanese fans wallpaper is and would imagine that it would suit the homes of her posh alter egos.

The Iconic Australian Designer You Need to Know About Now

Florence Broadhurst spent many of her younger years travelling the world, including a period of time in Shanghai where she worked as a showgirl and later on as the founder of a finishing school. I love how Broadhurst has used her travels to influence her designs as many of her works, including the image above show an appreciation of Asian culture which she has successfully and respectfully incorporated into her wallpaper range.

Florence Broadhurst featured amongst some of her most iconic imagery of peacocks. I love this picture as her flamboyant red hair blends into the wallpaper almost to highlight that her work was an extension of personality. It's been a hectic week and I've been meaning to post something here and I have just realised that actually, to honour this week's happy house rule that I should just, in fact, do less and to repeat last week's 5 minute rule, I should just do it now! So here it is: This is not just about having less but DOING less. Choosing quality over quantity where possessions are concerned but also with respect to what you choose to do each day. Decide what's most important and make it count…
