Auschwitz is a place where we can reflect on our individual and collective responsibility.  We have a duty to remember not only to commemorate the victims. From 17 to 21 January SS guards led some 56000 prisoners out of the camps and sub-camps forcing them to march dozens of kilometres in severe winter condition. The main march routes led to Wodzisław Śląski and Gliwice from where the prisoners were transported by train to other concentration camps. However some of the prisoners were forced to march all the way to the destination camp. For example over 3000 prisoners from the Neu-Dachs sub-camp (in Jaworzno) were forced to cover the distance of…

Post by @yadvashem "Love life and dont be afraid of death. Believe in God and a better future". This inscription was written in Ester Goldsteins album on 15 September 1942 by her 16-year-old classmate Bella Lassore. Ester Goldstein lived in Berlin with her parents sister and brother. On 26 October 1942 Ester was sent to Riga and on 12 January 1943 Bella was deported to Auschwitz. Both girls were murdered. The album along with other family documents was given to Yad Vashem by Esters sister…
