This is not a hyper realist painting but a photograph of a star forming, courtesy of @HUBBLE_space

"a photograph of a star forming, courtesy of Hubble… --This is the most amazing image from space I have ever seen :)" - I can't believe this is even a photograph! It looks like a painting!

Resembling the puffs of smoke and sparks from a summer fireworks display in this image from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, these delicate filaments are actually sheets of debris from a stellar explosion in a neighboring galaxy. Hubble's target was a supernova remnant within the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), a nearby, small companion galaxy to the Milky Way visible from the southern hemisphere.

Central area of the Milky Way galaxy, released by astronomers at the European Southern Observatory's Paranal Observatory in Chile. The photo shows 84 million stars in an image measuring 108,500×81,500, which contains nearly 9 billion pixels, and is actually a composite of thousands of individual photographs shot with the observatory's VISTA survey telescope.

This photograph was taken by the crew on board the Columbia during its last mission, on a cloudless day. The picture is of Europe and Africa when the sun is setting. Half of the picture is in night. The bright dots you see are the cities’ lights. Note that the lights are already on in Holland, Paris, and Barcelona and that’s it’s still daylight in Dublin, London, Lisbon and Madrid

Orion Nebula. You can actually see this nebula, just look underneath Orion's Belt to what looks a little bit like a sword :)

The Orion Nebula, or Messier is a huge complex of gas and dust where massive stars are forming. It is the closest such region to Earth.

A beautiful new image of two colliding galaxies has been released by NASA's Great Observatories. The Antennae galaxies, located about 62 million light-years from Earth, are shown in this composite image from the Chandra X-ray Observatory (blue), the Hubble Space Telescope (gold and brown), and the Spitzer Space Telescope (red).

On July 19, NASA's Cassini spacecraft captured a rare image of Saturn's rings and our planet Earth and its moon.

On July NASA's Cassini spacecraft captured a rare image of Saturn's rings and our planet Earth and its moon. The latest attempt at the Pale Blue Dot photo but closer and with much better equipment and perspective.
