Rolling a Beer Barrel ON THIS DAY ……. March 1940 Jack Flakhead from Daylesford, Victoria, won a wager of on this day in 1940 by rolling a beer barrel from Old Hepburn to Daylesford, a distance of in one hour and 12 minutes.
SHHHH! Daylesford, Victoria, Australia. The Daylesford historic railway station has a number of old and quirky pieces of rolling stock, including this 'Workmen's Sleeper' with the words 'Shunt Carefully' printed on the back. Some thirty odd years ago, I lived very close to a railway yard and in those days they shunted carriages around in the small hours of the night, and I can tell you that they never 'shunted carefully'! Hopefully there weren't any workmen sleeping.
