This matte black kitchen is a strong contrast the the rest of the house, where the walls are mostly white. A long island creates plenty of counterspace and acts as a casual dining area, while the wall is home to floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, allowing for plenty of storage.

Black & white A timeless combination. The best way to make these two work together on a large scale is to use them equally. Lower white cabinets & white benchtops make the room feel light and airy. Upper black cabinets add strength and attract the eye towards the higher part of the room, making it look larger than it is. Use a material for the splashback that link the two colours together,eg mirror, stainless steel, black & white tiles, white marble or grey glass.
