The plaque commemorates the arrival of the Second Fleet, the Lady Juliana and survivors from the H.M.S Guardian. The Second Fleet is the name of the second fleet of ships sent with settlers, convicts and supplies to colony at Sydney Cove in Port Jackson, Australia. Joseph Baylis was from Kingswinford, Staffordshire, England, UK. Joseph enlisted as a private in the New South Wales Corps 37th Regiment at Chatham, Kent, England on 25 Jun 1789. He arrived in the colony with the second fleet. His brother John also enlisted and arrived on the third fleet 1791.
