The Awesome Tree
Hi all, Back from the Seminar in Rochester Michigan. It all went well...turned in papers and albums, took some of my oral exams, organized my math pictures (finally, thank you Brian!) and presented my philosophy tree! A huge thanks to Jeff at Young Minds at Play for this custom work and help, including the charts, interpreting my not so great computer chicken scratch drawings. Everyone loved the manipulative "Tree" based on the Montessori Pythagorean plates. And...the best part is that it…
Quadratic Formula Memory Assignment | Math = Love
One of my favorite homework assignments of the year is this Quadratic Formula Memory Assignment that I assign my Algebra 2 students every year.
Quadratic Word Problems Tasks (BINOMIALS) - print and digital
Quadratic task cards: word problems. All equations are factorable. Students find the zeros, vertex x and vertex y based on the questions asked.
Teaching Polynomial Sketching
I gave my students a few polynomial equations, a few quick check sheets and asked them to find the degree, end behavior, zeros, if there were any multiplicities, the domain, and to sketch the polynomial graph. We did some more practice with various degree polynomials, ones that we first had to factor, and ones with multiplicities greater than 2.
Solving Quadratic Equations | Math Color Sheets
Check out this awesome alternative approach to practicing solving quadratic equations. COLOR SHEETS!!! Even highschoolers get excited when they get to color. Make learning math fun!
Fun Algebra Worksheets | KS3 and KS4 Algebra Maths Resources
Algebra resources for teaching and learning mathematics. Fun and visual resources for maths teachers and kids.
Properties of Exponents Foldable Notes
This set of foldable notes is designed to use in an interactive notebook to be a reference for the rules or properties of exponents. There is an example in variable terms on the flap and students write a brief explanantion under the flap. ***This resources is also included in the Properties of Exp...
Pythagorean - Part 2
Part 1 with my new intro for this year is HERE. Our finished right triangle pages looked like this... I know that's kind of a crazy picture. I used my CamScanner app and sent it to a student that was in ISS so she could check her work before moving to the next activity. If you don't have CamScanner I highly recommend it! I can scan and save as a high quality pdf right from my classroom - huge time saver! Anyway... next we completed this little booklet. It was all about the relationships…
Teaching the Pythagorean Theorem Proof through Discovery
Getting students to understand the Pythagorean Theorem through discovery learning. Great lesson to introduce geometry unit of Pythagorean Theorem. Read about how I used it with my 8th grade students.
