Victor Trumper, the 'crown prince of cricket's golden age', died of Bright's disease on 28 June 1915, at the age of only 37. His premature death, just two months after Gallipoli, evoked widespread public grief and over 100,000 mourners attended his funeral. He is buried in Waverley Cemetery.
