Deep in the heart of the Pilliga Forrest there is a former village of national significance that many people wouldn’t know about, Wooleybah. The Wooleybah Sawmill and Settlement is one of the last remaining intact examples of a bush sawmill in the Pilliga scrub. The sawmill was established in the 1930s by the Underwood family and is a demonstration of the history of forestry operations in the Pilliga and regeneration management practices of the early years.
