Vintage confectionary JAFFAS box

La Belle Epoque is french for "the beautiful era" and refers to a period in European history lasting from the late 19th century until World War 1. It was a golden age of peace, prosperity and advancement in many fields. The Arts in particular underwent a radical transformation. It was the time of Impressionism, Expressionism and Art Nouveau. It was also the time when cabaret theatre became popular (think Moulin Rouge).
