1942-11-19. New Guinea. Kokoda. Queenslander Pte. S. Wilson receives medical attention after a two days walk. He was wounded at close quarters. A Japanese bullet tore its way through the front of his helmet and out the back, wounding him slightly. (Negative by G. Silk).
Kokoda, New Guinea. November 1942. An Australian officer in charge of the natives buys fruit from the natives at a village just recently recaptured from the Japanese. Payment is made on the barter principle including trade tobacco. Food, usually plentiful in this area, is now scarce as the retreating Japanese burned many of the native gardens.
