Most species are endemic to Australia, but some species grow in New Zealand,Malaysia. A shrub or small tree, early settlers soaked the leaves in boiling water to make a brewed tea rich in ascorbic acid (vit C).
Epacris obtusifolia is a common plant from the heath family. The Blunt-leaf Heath grows in swampy areas and heathland in eastern Australia. It is usually seen growing less than a metre tall. Flowers form any time of the year, but are mostly seen between July and January
