Ida Bay Railway - Far South Tasmania About a two hour drive south of Hobart, I cant recommend it more highly. A beautiful journey through bushland covering an original settlement and the landmarks of what remains.
If you are traveling from Hobart to Huon Valley, you might like to go via Mt Wellington. http://www.wellingtonpark.org.au/landscape-gallery/ Walks from 15 minutes to a full day, easy to moderate. Drive via Fern Tree and walk to the summit, about 4 hours walking, then continue to Huon Bush Retrets for the night. Www.huonvalleyescapes.com.au
