PRESTON

MARGARET ROSE PRESTON was born on the 27th April, 1875 in Port Adelaide to David McPherson, a Scottish marine engineer, and Prudence McPherson. Preston’s formal art training was distinguished by her instruction under major Australian artists. From her initial training with Lister Lister, Preston went on to study at the prestigious National Gallery of Victoria Art School in 1889, under Frederick McCubbin, where she studied until 1894.
