Bowlby and ainsworth

Attachment theory, first articulated by John Bowlby in the 1940s and expanded on by Mary Ainsworth in the 1960s and 1970s​. Mary developed the "Strange Situation" to assess the relational pattern between toddlers and their mothers.  The SS is increasingly distressing to the child to see how the parent-child dyad responds-- these are the patterns and their names.
