Eric Ross-Pre-1895 Railroads & Steam Engines 21st February 2018 Hey guys, I was wondering if any other photos of Central Pacific Railroad No. 149 (or any of her Schenectady-built sisters) exist? I am planning to do a *blueprint-accurate or close enough* color drawing of her, and any help would be much appreciated! Hope everyone is having a great day! Disclaimer: the attached photo is NOT owned by me.
2015 marks the 150th anniversary of the Chinese immigrants contributions to the building of our first transcontinental railroad. In 1865, these immigrants were enlisted by the Central Pacific Railroad to lead in building the most challenging section of the transcontinental railroad up and over the Sierra Nevada Mountains. There were 15 tunnels over the course of the construction, and the longest was called the "Summit," with a length of 1659 feet.
