Civil Rights Memorial - is a memorial in Montgomery, Alabama to 40 people who died in the struggle for the equal and integrated treatment of all people, regardless of race, during the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. Designed by Maya Lin.

Viola Liuzzo was murdered on March 25, 1965 after the Selma-to-Montgomery Civil Rights March. She is the only white woman honored at the Montgomery Civil Rights Memorial.  #TodayInBlackHistory

Viola Liuzzo was murdered on March 1965 after the Selma-to-Montgomery Civil Rights March. She was a civil rights activist from Michigan. She is the only white woman honored at the Montgomery Civil Rights Memorial.

Civil Rights Memorial:   In 1988 the founder of the Southern Poverty Law Center won a $7 million verdict against the KKK for lynching a black teen in Mobile, Ala., that marked the end of a Klan responsible for some of the most heinous murders of the civil rights era.  Maya Lin was commissioned to design the Civil Rights monument. Her inspiration was "until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream," used  by Dr. King in his "I Have a Dream" speech.
