Industrial Revolution - Spencer Ltd Cotton Mill in Burnley. A focus on productivity took the forefront during this design period. With the increase of metal recourses, much of this periods interiors relied on the use of metals such as iron.
From 1908 to Lewis Hine collected visual evidence of the nation's youngest workers. Hine described this young mill worker, Addie Card, as an "anemic little spinner." She was photographed in 1910 at the North Pownal Cotton Mill in Vermont.
September Earlier in the year, women cotton mill workers in and around Pittsburgh go on strike for a day and an end to child labor. Months into the strike, hundreds marched on the Blackstock Mill, one of the largest in the area.
