EARL (CURLY) LAMBEAU.   Founded pre-NFL Packers in 1919. Coach-general manager for Packers until 1949. Credited with keeping pro football alive in Green Bay. First coach to make forward pass an integral part of the offense. 33-year NFL coaching record: 229-134-22 with six championships in Green Bay. Played halfback for 11 years until 1929. Born April 9, 1898, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, died June 1, 1965, at age of 67.

Earl L. "Curly" Lambeau (1898 - 1965) Football Coach, Player. He founded the Green Bay Packers in 1919 and plyed for them from 1919 to 1929, and was also President of the team from 1919 to 1949. He played halfback from 1919 to 1929, a period during which he pioneered the forward pass in professional football.
