Europa, in Greek mythology, the daughter either of Phoenix or of Agenor, king of Phoenicia, from whom the name of the continent Europe has ultimately been taken. The beauty of Europa inspired the love of Zeus, who approached her in the form of a white bull and carried her away from Phoenicia to Crete. She later married Asterius, the king of Crete.

The Abduction of Europa, Jean-François de Troy.jpg

The Abduction of Europa by Jean-Francois de Troy, depicts one of the many Greek myths in which Zeus transforms into an animal.

Europa and the White Bull. I had a sleep paralysis-inducing dream when I was in Germany regarding a white bull. Shortly after I realized how similar Greek mythology was to my own religion and quickly shrugged it off. Life-changing moment. Zeus took the form of a white bull to steal Europa for his bride. Christ was MY bridegroom, as the white bull was to be Europa's, I think a tattoo seems a fitting flag for that accomplishment.

The Abduction of Europa by Jean Francois de Troy. Jupiter transformed himself into a beautiful white bull that tempted the beauty Europa who couldn't help but ride it. The bull then took to the water and carried Europa away. It's interesting to see the painting and notice that it would have been quite easy for Europa to dismount the bull and run away, but it seems no one ever escapes the lusts of Jupiter.
