Omphalotus olearius, commonly known as the jack-o'-lantern mushroom, is a poisonous orange gilled mushroom that to an untrained eye appears similar to some chanterelles. It is notable for its bioluminescent properties.
Creoidotus cestatii has to be one of my favourite fungus. When seen from above it seems so common and innocuous, just a white crust attached to the underside of a dead twig. But once turned over and viewed from its lower surface it becomes a fabulous combination of shapes and colours, gills and swirls, love this! Putt Woods nr Faversham
Photo by Michael Snedic. This wouldn't last an hour in my yard. Two of the herd of grey squirrels are big mushroom destroyers. Any that pop up are usually scattered over the yard before the day is done.
Fungi mushrooms are packed with texture. I have used this image as the texture is very delicate but also very bold at the same time. I like the shape of this image and would I would enjoy incorporating mushrooms or other foods in my art work.
