Key's Battery, Arkansas Volunteer Light Artillery, (the "Helena Artillery") Key's Battery was captured with most of the rest of Daniel Govan's Arkansas brigade, including the 1st Arkansas Infantry Regiment, in the fighting at Jonesboro, Georgia, on 1 September 1864. Assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Died of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated beneath his vehicle while on a combat reconnaissance patrol in Kajaki Sofla, Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

John B. Kennedy.  Kennedy served the Confederacy as a private with Company A of the 3rd Tennessee Infantry Regiment. He was wounded at Chickamauga and at Jonesboro, Georgia.  Kennedy was one of the six original organizers of the Ku Klux Klan on December 24, 1865, in the Pulaski law office of Major Thomas M. Jones, and he would be the last of the six founders to die.
