Oomycetes. Pythium species cause a variety of diseases including root rots of numerous plant species, Pythium blight of turf, and damping-off, which involves seed rot and pre- and post-emergence seedling death. Phytophthora species cause late blight of potato and tomato, foliar blights on peppers and cucurbits, and root or stem rots of many plant species.
Yellow flesh and scab resistant. A high-yielding, tasty mid-season variety with smooth yellow skin, pale yellow flesh and pink eyes. Better scab resistance than Yukon Gold and not as susceptible to late blight.

History: This picture is of statues of people who were trying to escape Ireland during the potato famine in Dublin Ireland. The potato famine was in September 1845-1852 where many poor people all over Ireland had depended on potatoes because of their monthly harvest. But, then do to late blight (a potato virus that enters the root into the plant infecting it spreading killing crop) it caused many deaths due to starvation and farmers were already having a tough time by then.
This picture depicts the contagious fungi called late blight, causing the destruction of tomato plants. A strain of this fungus was responsible for the famous Irish potato famine which occurred in the late century.
