John Bonifas Bennett - U.S. Congressman. He graduated from University Law School Illinois, in 1926, was admitted to the Michigan bar in 1926 and practiced law in Ontonagon, Michigan. He was prosecuting attorney of Ontonagon County, (1929-340 and deputy commissioner of the Michigan Department of Labor and Industry, (1935-37). In 1943, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-eighth Congress, serving until 1945.
