I should note that these bigger statues, as the "gargoyles" from the eponymously titled 90's cartoon, are grotesques. Gargoyles, as root association with "gargle" hints, spout water; one can be seen center left, at the appropriate level.

Aux angles des contre-forts du portail de Notre-Dame de Paris, on voit d’énormes bêtes sculptées, qui, en se découpant sur le ciel, donnent la vie à ces masses de pierre.

I love this picture cause you can see the differences between the two gargoyles, the top is decorative, not hunched over, the bottom one is definitely a water spout due to its posture. this shows great levels of the different decorations.

Gargoyles on the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris, added by restoration architect E.-E. Viollet-le-Duc, 1845–64.

Climbed the many steps to the observation deck of Notre Dame between the two towers to see the gargoyles. Heights are not my strong point, but this was the most amazing view of Paris.

#WritingPrompt: They watched. They waited. Only 7 days remained until they would return to life and the humans would turn to stone. If all went as planned, they would conquer. However, every 1,000 of years when this happened, one human remains in the flesh and has the potential to ruin everything. www.writersrelief.com

What do you see when you look up to the top of the great cathedral of Notre Dame? You see monsters, half-man and half-beast. These demon looking creatures carved out of stone are called gargoyles.
