Vee Shakarian Toner, Omicron, 1969 Woman of the Year, was known for her contributions and participation in international amateur sports. In 1956, Vee managed the U.S. Olympic women’s swimming team in Melbourne, Australia. She officiated at AAU (Association of American Universities) tennis, swimming and track events. She was the first woman to receive the Distinguished Alumnae Award from Pittsburgh College of Arts and Science.
