Duck Swamp Station, Durham Ox, consists of a simple hip-roofed brick homestead of 1843 and its gothic successor of 1848, with steep-pitched gabled roofs and fretted barge boards on the gable ends. The nearby township of Durham Ox got its name from the famous cattle (progenitors of today's Shorthorns) bred on Duck Swamp Station by pioneer settlers, Edward Argyle and Abraham Booth.
