The space is truly a "studio for learning", a laboratory of sorts. The children use the studio as a place to conduct research and experiments, and to create and construct ideas, theories and knowledge. Using the languages of clay, paint, music, dance, pen, ink, wood, wire, natural materials and found objects, children are able to think more deeply, work out answers, and express their understanding.

Garden Gate Child Development Center and the Martha's Vineyard Public Charter School are joining together in a year-long creative exploration of children’s rights, which will culminate in a community art show at Featherstone Center for the Arts on APRIL 7 & 8, 2017. This project is supported in part by a grant from the Martha’s Vineyard Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
