Clambering to the high point of Maria Island you are rewarded with this substantial view to reward you for the moderately exhausting 800m upward climb. Looking back across Great Oyster Bay you can make out how large is the expanse of water contained  within Freycinet National Park, and how in former times, highpoint lookouts would have been so important to whaling and the survey of potential catches.
