@Polycopy's #Hooroo #SecretSpot is #StudleyParkBoathouse in #Kew. The boathouse has been my city fringe nature escape for as long as I have lived in Melbourne. Set right on the banks of the Yarra, the Boathouse building itself brims with ye olde world charm and is a rather lovely place to sip tea and munch scones while enjoying the river view ahead.
James D's #Hooroo #SecretSpot is #ClearviewFarm in #Ferndale. A surprising good farm stay. Great organic farm produce from its orchard and farm animals. It has a proper restaurant for guests; the farmer is also a chef. The farm animals roam free which the children love.
James D's #Hooroo #SecretSpot is the #NationalGalleryVictoria. A great place to hang out when the weather too hot, too cold or too Melbourne. Don't be put off by the stuffy academic ideas of art and pick a couple of pieces and have a good look at them, imagine the stories and why they are important enough to be a gallery. Don't forget to download any free audio commentary on iTunes U provided by the gallery (the gallery website lists them).
@Lucy McEwan's #Hooroo #SecretSpot is #DaylesfordConvent. This not-so-secret spot on the top of the hill overlooks Daylesford and the surrounding countryside. For breakfast I have the pesto scrambled eggs, and after that I spend hours soaking up the divine gallery and grounds
@Lucy McEwan's #Hooroo #SecretSpot is Yalumba Wine Room in the #Barossa. There are some well known and well priced favourites here available to try, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and happy to educate us in their mission to make wine more accessible. With stunning buildings and gardens, this is a gorgeous place to explore.
Karen's #Hooroo #SecretSpot is #BarronFalls in #Queensland. One of the most spectacular waterfalls we have ever seen. The sheer power of the water, the noise, the spray - a true natural wonder
Sarah B's #Hooroo #SecretSpot is #MorningSunVineyard in #Mornington. It's a little less known than the other big T'Gallants and Montalto's of the Mornington Peninsula and offers the same great experience with killer views, plus they offer accommodation… if perhaps you have sampled a few too many wines. Great selection of boutique wines and yummy wood fired pizza's are on offer. Grab a glass/bottle and drink in the atmosphere. Its an easy 1.5hr drive from Melbourne
@Anita Louise's #Hooroo #SecretSpot is #BalgownieEstate in #YarraGlen #Victoria. Balgownie Estate is the perfect blend of great winery and cellar door and an impeccable restaurant with the yummiest food. It is a great spot for a weekend away. The views from Rae’s restaurant are magical and there is also a day spas and walking tracks if you are looking for things to do. It is an all round great spot just out of Melbourne
@Lucy McEwan's #Hooroo #SecretSpot is Artisans of the Barossa. Seven individual wineries with different winemaking styles have come together to showcase their handmade, boutique wines in a cellar door environment. With glorious views over the vines and delicious food served on an expansive balcony, you really should check this place out.
Bronwyn's #Hooroo #SecretSpot is #SqueakyBeach in #WilsonsProm. Easily one of the most beautiful beaches in Australia, Squeaky Beach is a must see if you’re visiting the prom. Surrounded by walking tracks and stunning bushland, the sand on this aptly named beach actually squeaks when you walk along it.
Anne's #Hooroo #SecretSpot is #LakeWendouree walking track in #Ballarat #Victoria. Named after the resident marathon runner, the picturesque 6km track winds in along the edge of the lake, keeping you in the company of swans and other wildlife. Walkers, runners, cyclists, rowers, picnickers and other visitors make the lake a vibrant, energising place to visit. Combined with the calming effects of the gently rippling water, Lake Wendouree caters for every mood.
