I spent yesterday in Wild Rivers National Park, on the Gordon River. We specifically chose World Heritage Cruises, because this family run, local company helped with the conservation battle to save the Franklin River from destruction. We always prefer to support those who help protect the natural values that Tasmania has to offer.

Many operators within the Huon Valley Escapes group are already accredited, with several others part way through the process. www.huonvalleyescapes.net
"Kangie" the Bennetts Wallaby is our latest arrival at Huon Bush Retreats. Hand raised as an orphan, she is now learning the ways of the wild. Until she learns where the stream is, she seems content with drinking from the bird bath. http://www.huonbushretreats.com/?q=node/54

Tourism is a major industry in Tasmania. People come from all over the world to enjoy nature, fine food and wine, spectacular scenery and a quiet pace of life.
