The Tasmanian Pepper Berry or Mountain Pepper (Tasmannia lanceolata) which is native to the wet forests of south-eastern Australia. It is used as a traditional medicine and shows potential in the treatment of a variety of diseases but it is most well known for its culinary use- the leaves can be used for food flavouring in much the same way as a Bay leaf and the berries produced by the female plants are also edible. Beware though, as all parts of the plant are very spicy! Abc Garden, Cloudy Bay, Living Treasures, Bruny Island, Garden Entrance, Plant Catalogs, Edible Plants, Garden Features, Private Garden
