Families and additional need support within the home
These services provide assistance to families who are faced with the challenges of bringing up a child with additional needs. This aligns with my belief that children are directly influenced by the family context. A family that is supported through challenging times is more likely to have a positive impact on their child's holistic development.
Respite for Carers - Mental Health: supporting someone with a mental health issue, intellectual disability or autism spectrum disorder so that they can have time-out to maintain their health and well being
INTERCHANGE OUTER EAST (IOE) is a non profit, community based organisation which supports families who have a child or young person with a disability. They have recreational programs, sibling and family support programs for those living in Melbourne’s outer eastern regions of Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges.
Knox Support Group - Support network for parents with children that have a disability. Connecting families to the community for their wellbeing. This parent network has regular meeting/seminars on the different aspects of being a carer.
Uniting Care Life Assist - Support for families with a child with a disability that are faced with home living challenges due to the disability. They provide greater access to community services for disadvantaged families.
