This treetop walk through the Otway forest is a wonderful experience. Lil and I visited it last year staying nearby at Wye River on the Great Oceon Road. We will be going again soon this time staying at Apollo Bay.
MOUNT HOTHAM..... This photo was taken near Mount Hotham in the Victorian Alps, Great Dividing Range. Its late spring and there's not much snow left in this popular skiing resort. However, the drive across the Australian Alps from Lakes Entrance in Gippsland was a treat.
BLACKWOOD..... These lovely gardens are located deep in the Wombat State Forest. St Erth is part of the Diggers Club organisation which promotes Organic Gardening through training and provision of heritage plants and seeds. Blackwood is a small town of 297 residents founded in 1855 during the Victorian gold rush when its population peaked at 13,000. Blackwood is 69 kms North West of Melbourne.
BALLARAT.... The Ballarat Begonia Festival is held in and around the Botanical Gardens every year. This display mounted in the garden's conservatory is the centrepiece of the festival. These spectacular Begonias were first discovered in Peru and Bolivia in 1864, and have been growing in the Ballarat Botanical Gardens ever since their arrival here in 1896.
Its easy to find a quiet spot on this wonderful oceon beach even on a warm summer's day. It stretches 94 miles Km) from Port Albert to Lakes Entrance in East Gippsland. Port Albert is about 234 Kilometers East-South East of Melbourne.
