Australian Aboriginal Rain Sticks

a fabulous paper mâché sculpture lesson for us. Interactive rain sticks were an absolute hit! From the toothpick and cardboard tube construction to the Australian aboriginal-inspired end caps, we love every minute of it!

Each student traced their own hand in pencil then broke up their hand into different shapes and patterns. They traced over the pencil lines with black sharpie. We used colored pencils to color each shape in pushing down to make them bold and bright. I glued them down to a large piece of cardboard that was covered in black paper.

Love the unique decorations of these handprints! What a great "buddy" project to explore the idea of friendship in Judge Julie Truly. Each child will create on their level. They can take their handprints home.
