Notice and Note Posters, Reading Logs, and Bookmark Based on the revolutionary and game changing book Notice and Note: Strategies for Close Reading by Beers and Probst. I created a set of coordinating posters (anchor charts), reading logs, and bookmarks for the six signposts. These six signposts help students recognize significant moments in virtually any piece of literature, thus enabling students to read deeper and more thoroughly analyze the text.
I designed this poster which briefly summarizes the 6 "Signposts of Reading" as outlined in the book _Notice and Note_ by Kylene Beers and Robert E. Probst which focuses on close reading strategies.I have a "Detective Theme" in my classroom, so the decorations of the poster are tied into that idea. This file is 300 dpi to print at 20" x 30" at Costco.
Get 5 sets of paired passages (10 total passages), with one page of comprehension questions for each passage. There is also one page of paired comprehension questions, where students must use both passages to answer the question. You'll also find two extended response prompts. These paired passages require students to use both texts to write a paragraph or essay. The prompts are rigorous and will require critical thinking. $
These wintry passages (Lexile 850-1010) meet the demand for more rigorous, complex texts with Common Core- especially paired texts that students can use to compare and build knowledge to integrate information and draw conclusions. Text dependent questions and constructed responses are included with each pair of passages.
ELA standard 3.RL2: Recount stories, including fables, folktales, and myths from diverse cultures; determine the central message, lesson, or moral and explain how it is conveyed through key details in the text. I will use this chart to lead class discussions on retelling/summarizing stories throughout the year from our CC reading series.
