This is called paint chip poetry. I found this lesson awesome! Paint samples are free to get and the children write a poem according to the color of their paint sample. This type of activity would be used in the higher grades such as
I do Paint Chip Poetry, but I have kids use the names of the colors to integrate into their poems. This looks like fun -- I'll have to try it! Have kids draw them from a hat. They could practice descriptive writing using the color they draw.
Although used in a second grade classroom, this would be a great way to display student poetry in the classroom, especially for open house. Students could hang up their favorite poem that they have written.
