The Blue Pools, Queenstown, New Zealand I want to go to New Zealand so bad!!!!!!!! It is my dream destination.

The Blue Pools

The "Blue Pools" were one of the mini hikes I did on the way from Franz Josef glacier to Queestown. Yes the water really is this color -- And unbeleivably clear. The glacial water you find in much of the South Island of New Zealand has a fine silt in it that gives the water its amazing color.

This is also one of the images I took during my first stay in New Zealand. The tide was low when I reached the Moeraki Boulders and the water didn't reach the stones. I had some really nice light and clouds, so I tried a few vertical shots including the boulders and the sky. The vertical comp also helped me to keep the people out of the frame that were watching the sun rise with me. Canon 400D, 10-20mm, GND Copyright © Joerg Bonner 2010.
