Milk bath photography was all the rage a few years back. Back then, I was using a kiddie pool in the garage. It worked but had its drawbacks. So, when I was recently approached to do a rose petal milk bath with a more fashion twist, we decided to actually use a bathtub. Here is what we did. Photography is a beautiful art form that allows us to capture and preserve moments, memories and emotions. However, just like any other art form, there are certain rules and principles that need to be followed to create a truly great photograph. Unfortunately, some photographers commit what could be considered “unforgivable photography sins,” which can ruin a photograph. Let’s look at some of these and how to avoid them. I truly believe that these lighting techniques are important in portrait photography. They help to create different moods and emphasize different facial features. They allow the photographer to control the direction and quality of light falling on the subject. As such, they allow you to shape your subject’s appearance and create a desired visual impact. I personally use all three and even a combination of them in most of my studio portraits. Lighting Techniques, Subjects, Facial, Impact, Appearance

Godox lights are an amazing addition to any studio, the AD200Pro is a value add to any kit (in my opinion). It’s an amazing moonlight or speedlight, but with a few additional accessories, it can be even better. Moonlight, Opinion, Bring It On, Kit, Lights, Studio, Amazing

I switched over to Godox a couple of years ago. They have made my life so simple and easy. In and out of the studio. Out of the box, the Godox AD200Pro has no complex menus; it’s simple but oh-so powerful. I adore it so much I bought a second one! Let’s have a closer look! Once you get over the first hurdle in actually calibrating your monitor for the first time (like me when I was a complete newbie), you have to remember how often you need to recalibrate. I had no idea how much I needed to do it. I remember a few years ago, I was so upset at how different my images looked once printed. I blamed my cheap monitor and bought a high-end one. While it did help, it did not completely solve my problems. I could have just calibrated my older monitor. Set A Reminder, Editing Tools, Smart Storage, Hurdles, Newbie, Get Over It

What you see is what you get, and it begins with a calibrated monitor. I found out just that when I was given a SpyderX Pro to try out. I have never calibrated a monitor before, even though as a photographer I know I should have. Working predominantly with digital images, I thought that as long as they looked good on my screen, that was OK. OK, I will admit it, I was a complete newbie when it came to calibrating a monitor. I knew I SHOULD have been doing it, but I used to be tech shy. I thought it would be complicated. But it wasn’t; the Datacolor SpyderX Pro made it so easy to do. Things To Think About, Things To Come, Shy, Complicated, Monitor, Tech

It’s summer here in Australia and not too far from me is a gorgeous lotus plantation and nursery. They are only open for a few months and then closed again once the lotus have stopped flowering. It’s a magical place to wander, a little lost in your thoughts and capture the beauty with your camera. Magical Places, Wander, Lotus, Closed, Australia, Nursery, Thoughts, Open
