Arthur Merric Bloomfield BOYD (b.1920; d.1999) in stock at Art Nomad

Arthur Boyd, a member of the Boyd family of practicing artists. His works began as war-time experiences and depicted Australia and Aboriginal communities. Drawing on human emotion as a key aspect of his paintings. He believed that art served a higher purpose - to create discussion and raise issues such as the treatment of mixed-blood Aboriginals and Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War. His later works became starky expressionist figuration paintings and landscapes.
